Welcome to the Moor of Rannoch Hotel

Rannoch - Moor of Rannoch Hotel

RANNOCH MOOR - We are situated in one of the most spectacular wildernesses in the UK, Rannoch Moor. Every day when you get up in the morning, the picture from your window will be different. Spectacular scenery and nature at its finest engulfs your every view. The whole idea of The Moor of Rannoch Hotel is relaxation and a total “De stress” zone. Enjoy the warmth that our log fires, comfy sofas and lashings of homemade cooked food provide. There are walks for every level of walker. Just ask if you need maps or guidance on routes.

There is a bus service running from the Hotel to Kinloch Rannoch with connections onward. Times are listed in the Hotel. If you are travelling by car, be sure you have plenty of fuel, as the nearest garage is 38 miles away.
Rannoch Station is less than a minute's stroll from the Hotel, both for arranging your journey here and for days out. The Caledonian Night Sleeper runs every night, except Saturday, from London Euston to Rannoch direct, calling at Crewe and Preston along the way and arriving in time for a full Scottish Breakfast at 8.40am. Before confirming your booking with us, please ensure that there is space available on the sleeper (First Scotrail Reservations - 0845 755 0033 or visit http://www.firstscotrail.com/)

The sprinter train runs Monday to Saturday three times a day from Glasgow Queen Street to Fort William and then on to Mallaig. All trains stop at Rannoch.

The book "Iron Road to the Isles” by Michael Pearson quotes:

"Arguably RANNOCH is one of the most romantic railway destinations in the world. It stands in splendid isolation, eighty seven miles from Glasgow, thirty five miles from Fort William, and a little matter of sixteen from Kinloch Rannoch, the nearest settlement of any size. Panic sets in as the train rumbles away into the distance: "What am I doing here, I must have been mad to get off the train," Then slowly but surely your confidence returns, stress evaporates and a sense of well-being takes over. There’s no signal for your mobile phone, you cannot be got at, an invigorating feeling of optimism and potential manifests itself in your mind. However long you are here for, it is not time to be killed, but time to be treasured".
