Kitchen Garden & Polytunnel
There is nothing better than using fresh herbs and salad leaves to add flavour to dishes in the kitchen. Due to our location and delivery days we always struggled to get fresh leaves to use so we started to grow our own. One of the local ladies, Mary, had a polytunnel and started to supply us some fantastic produce and really opened our eyes to what can be grown in Rannoch!
When Mary left the area we were determined to continue with our locally grown produce so we set about building own own kitchen garden including a huge 35ft long polytunnel. Over two summers we have transformed a small part of Rannoch Station into a fantastic garden and are beginning to reap the rewards. Thank you to the various polytunnel builders and wheelbarrow pushers who have assisted us from time to time!
We now grow the majority of our own salad leaves and herbs with a selection of other vegetables also planted. Perthshire is famous for its soft fruits and we also have a number of trees and bushes becoming established.
